ThaiMed knows hair loss can result from many factors. The most common
form of hair loss is clinically known as androgenetic alopecia,
or male and female patterned hair loss.
The tendency for male and female
pattern hair loss is genetically inherited from either side of the
family and begins to develop after puberty. Hair on the scalp (generally
the front and the top) is genetically affected by dihydrotestosterone
(DHT) and starts to shrink until it is lost.
Hair loss is progressive, which
means you have a limited supply of donor areas to distribute to
areas of hair loss. Experienced and qualified hair surgeons will
need to harvest and utilize grafts with minimal waste. Most surgeons
utilize a 'blind" or Closed technique for quick donor harvesting.
This results in significant follicular damage and lack of growing
hair. Hair that does grow is often deformed or miniaturized.
ThaiMed utilizes the Open Technique,
which minimizes any waste due to more graft sites that are available
for transplantation. The area is further dissected under a binocular
stereoscopic microscope into a follicular-unit graft or "mini-graft."
A mini-graft can be used behind the hairline for added density.
During insertion, the graft handling is meticulously placed by orientation
in the direction and angle of the natural hair. Within 24 hours
small crusts will form on each graft which are shed in approximately
7-10 days. The grafted hairs will often start to grow by 6-12 weeks
after the procedure and will continue to grow for a lifetime.
